CARE AND CLEANING OF YOUR NEW PIERCING
The care and cleaning of any new piercing is of the utmost importance.
While you have been pierced under the most sterile conditions with
autoclaved equipment, the aftercare of a piercing is vital to its' success
and is entirely up to you;It is normal for all new piercings to secrete dead
cells and lymph
during the healing process. When this hardens, it is necessary to remove
it before rotating the ring. Some areas of the body will secrete more
lymph and dead blood cells and are best removed in the shower, where
the stream of water can gently remove them. a mild salt water
solution in a ratio of 8 oz. water to 1/2 tsp. of salt. For most piercings,
this can be prepared in a glass and then held up to the area, swishing
the water around the immersed piercing. It is important to be sure the
salt water gets inside the new piercing and rotating the ring assures it
will happen. This mild saline solution can be utilized for as long as you
have the piercing, and is useful anytime you may have a slight flair up
or any tenderness in the area during the total healing process. the saline
solution, one should apply a triple
antibiotic cream such as neosporin, directly onto the ring with a Q-tip.
The ring should then be rotated so the triple antibiotic cream can go
inside the hole. USE OF NEOSPORIN SHOULD NOT LAST MORE
THAN TEN DAYS. a variety of factors that can effect the healing
time of a piercing. I always recommend that people take a strong
multi-vitamin as well as 50 mg. of zinc three times dailey. Maintaining
an appropriate level of zinc in your' body will aid in the healing process.
The use of alcohol and drugs will not aid the process, but will retart
healing and can substantially effect the success of a piercing. Also, any
kind of illness will usually be reflected in your' piercing when it is new.
Expect minor flair ups during the cold and flu season. your' new piercing
